CUC HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATION
The Human Rights organization was a student led group that I co-led for 4 years. We saw a need for more students to push their course-work further by connecting with other students and community leaders. We informed faculty and students about issues happening in Chicago and around the world.
We hosted screenings on gender + sexuality, organized an open dialogue to learn from community leaders like Traffick Free, rallied behind causes like Fight for 15.
We also brought forth petitions to sign, registered students to vote, hosted fundraising events, connected students to community leaders from Chicago. Offered passive and active learning opportunities for students and faculty on campus.
For my organizing efforts, I was awarded the 1st annual Legacy Leader Award for building community and creating awareness on campus.
